Island communities impact assessment (ICIA) that identifies no significant impact on islands communities from implementing The Marine Licensing (Miscellaneous Amendment) (Scotland) Order 2026.
Consultation and engagement
The joint Defra and Scottish Government consultation on the implementation of Part 4 of the BBNJ Agreement covered the scope of the licensing changes, and covered the devolved activities of Scottish actors. The consultation did not generate responses that identified an implication for the islands.
The existing legislation on EIA and licensing (see below) has previously been subject to consultation. This SSI simply extends some powers to ABNJ and does not have additional island impacts to those previously considered.
