Biometric technology systems in schools: guidance

1. This non-statutory guidance is intended primarily for education authorities. It provides basic information about biometric technology and its potential use within schools, highlights issues which should be carefully considered before implementing a biometric technology system and sets out the relevant legislation.

2. The relevant legislation includes the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
