These pages provide details of the underlying allocations which determine the distribution of General Revenue Grant, which along with non-domestic rates and council tax, provides the majority of funding across the 32 Scottish Local Authorities. The figures shown are as published in Scottish Government Finance Circulars, which are available here.
The vast majority of individual GAE totals (that is, the amount available for distribution in each service area considered) remain at 2007-08 levels. This is in keeping with the practice introduced for the 2008-11 settlement. The underlying data used to distribute these totals has been updated and so the distribution of funds amongst Local Authorities changes each year.
New funding lines may be added each year, but any additional changes in general funding resulting from subsequent Spending Reviews are distributed using the GAE (plus SINA) total for each local authority. The additional allocations are not currently included in the following publications, but can be seen in the Finance Circulars.
Older GAE reports are in our archive.
