The Ministerial Oversight Group on Pandemic Preparedness (MOG) is established to ensure Future Pandemic Preparedness is prioritised across all areas of Government to effectively manage future pandemic risk.
Role
The MOG will:
oversee the development and implementation of an updated pandemic preparedness framework which responds to the lessons identified from COVID and other high consequence infectious diseases
receive and commission advice via a Programme Board to support that work, likely to include capabilities assessments, resourcing issues and policy choices about integration with UK and international activities
make a decision on the future of the group when pandemic preparedness is sufficiently established as actively managed ‘business as usual’

Membership of the working group is detailed on the group page.
Governance and meetings
The MOG will meet every six months. Meetings will be held virtually.
Additional meetings can be scheduled as required.
Secretariat will be provided by the Future Pandemic Preparedness Unit, Population Health Resilience and Protection Division, Population Health Directorate, SG
Review
These Terms of Reference will be reviewed annually or as needed to reflect evolving priorities and lessons learned.
The direction and life span of the dedicated Future Pandemic Preparedness Ministerial Oversight Group and the duration of the programme of work will be as reviewed by the Ministerial Oversight Group and may evolve.
