Funding to LGBT Health and Wellbeing for conversion practices support services: FOI release

Information requested

1. How much funding the Scottish Government has provided to LGBT Health and Wellbeing for its Conversion Practices Helpline, broken down by financial year.

2. How many unique individuals have contacted the Conversion Practices Helpline for support because they believe they have experienced conversion practices, broken down by quarter since 1 January 2025.

3. If unique‑individual data is not held, the closest available equivalent and an explanation of the methodology used.

Response

The Scottish Government has provided funding to LGBT Health and Wellbeing since 2022 for its conversion practices support services. This funding has supported survivors of conversion practices via LGBT Health and Wellbeing’s freephone inclusive helpline, live chat and email service as well as fast-track access to one-to-one counselling with LGBT Health and Wellbeing’s counselling service.

The Scottish Government has provided the following funding:

• 2023 - £75,525.00
• 2024 - £33,400.00
• 2024 - £71,990
• 2025 - £71,996
• 2026 - £50,000

Four contacts relating to conversion practices were received by the helpline during the period October–December 2025.

The Scottish Government does not hold data on the number of unique individuals who have contacted the Conversion Practices Helpline since 1 January 2025. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. The reasons why we do not have the information are explained in the Annex to this letter.
