Education Scotland - email information: FOI release

Information requested

As part of a project I am working on, I would like to e-mail the Directors of Education in each of the 32 local authorities across Scotland.

I appreciate that it might not be possible to give out names of individuals (even though this would be welcome), however I would be very grateful if you could provide the contact e-mail address of each Director (as opposed to any general local authority address).

I have rephrased my request to include information that I believe you do hold.

Can you please provide the email address for each local authority that you use when disseminating key educational documents?

Can you provide an evidence of the last email which was used to do so?

Please find attached at Annex A the information you have requested.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because an exemption under section 38(1)(b) (personal information) of FOISA applies because the information is personal data of a third party, ie names of individuals, and we feel that disclosing it could lead to identification and it would also contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018.

This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
