Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

1. The total costs(to date) of re-branding the Scottish Qualifications Authority to Qualifications Scotland

2. Revised year 2 2026-27 costs and year 3 2027-28 (if available) for branding/website costs,

Response

To date, the Scottish Government has spent £31,778 on re-branding work relating solely to Qualifications Scotland. In addition, £12,000 has been spent on work to develop the names of the new national education bodies - including Qualifications Scotland - but it is not possible to separate out these costs for Qualifications Scotland only.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. Qualifications Scotland is an executive Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) and, as such, is not part of the Scottish Government or the Scottish Administration. As a NDPB, Qualifications Scotland is responsible for making its own operational decisions, including how budget is allocated. As such, I hereby provide you with formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the following information you have requested;

1. The total costs(to date) of re-branding the Scottish Qualifications Authority to Qualifications Scotland

2. Revised year 2 2026-27 costs and year 3 2027-28 for branding/website costs

However, you may wish to contact Qualifications Scotland at foi@qualifications.gov.scot who may be able to help you.
