Scottish male prison population statistics: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

The following information in relation to the Scottish prison population:

For each of the statistical years listed below:

- 2020–21
- 2021–22
- 2022–23
- 2023–24

1. The number of men aged 50 years and over held in Scottish prisons.

2. Where available, please provide this information as:

(a) Average daily prison population, and
(b) Number of unique individuals aged 50+ who spent time in custody during each year.
