Information request and response under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004.
Information requested
1. Number of registered holdings (farms).
2. Number of LFA (Less favoured area) holdings.
3. Total area of land held within the total holdings (Ha).
4. Total area of land held within the LFA holdings (Ha).
5. Maximum and Mean area of land per holding (Ha).
Response
1. Number of registered holdings (farms):
526 farms partially or fully within the River Isla watershed provided.
Note: Land Parcel dataset was dissolved per CPH (County, Parish, Holding) and clipped to the River Isla watershed.
2. Number of LFA (Less favoured area) holdings:
518 farms.
Note: The LFA data from spatialdata.gov.scot was used. This dataset appears to be based on ourland parcels data dated December 2020. It does not include CPH or Land Parcel attributes; therefore, spatial join and manual checks were performed to calculate the number of LFA holdings. Any farm intersecting the LFA boundary, even partially, was included in the calculation.
3. Total area of land held within the total holdings (Ha):
62609.91 ha
Note: Total area of farms clipped to the supplied watershed.
4. Total area of land held within the LFA holdings (Ha):
62411.33 ha
Note: The LFA dataset was clipped to land parcels within the River Isla watershed, and the total area in hectares was calculated. As previously stated, the LFA data is dated 2020. As the land parcel boundaries are subject to change through land maintenance activities, this figure may not be 100% accurate.
5. Maximum and Mean area of land per holding (Ha):
Max – 3965.39 ha (largest farm within the watershed).
Mean – 119.03 ha (average farm size within the watershed) .
