Scottish Agricultural Wages Board employees suspended on full pay: FOI release

Information requested

1. In each year since 2020-21, including the current year to date, how many employees at this public body have been suspended with full pay? Where an employee’s suspension covers multiple financial years, please only include the year where they were initially suspended.

2. In relation to Q1, what is the respective salary of these employees?

3. Please provide as much detail as possible on why these employees were suspended. E.g. Disciplinary issues, poor quality of work etc.

Response

The answer to your question is that the Scottish Agricultural Wages Board does not directly have any employees.

The board comprises of 17 members:

  • 6 representing the interests of employers nominated by NFU Scotland and the Scottish Land and Estates
  • 6 representing the interests of workers nominated by Unite the Union
  • 5 independent members appointed by Scottish Ministers, one of whom is designated Chair

Members of the Board have to abide by the Code of Conduct for Member of the Scottish Agricultural Wages Board, and within this code of conduct there is the option to suspend members if they do not comply.
