Correspondence between Islands Team and Argyll & Bute Council regarding New Mull /Tobermory Campus: FOI release

Information requested

Information in relation to the New Mull Campus/Tobermory Campus:

  1. Please may I have any records held of any contact between the Islands Team and Argyll & Bute Council giving them advice re the Islands Act including undertaking Island Impact Assessments.
  2. Please may I have any records held of any contact between the Islands Team and hub North giving them advice re the Islands Act including undertaking Island Impact Assessments.
  3. Please can I have a copy of the needs of Mull, the brief given to Stantec who undertook the Integrated Impact Assessment for this project.
  4. How are the Islands Team ensuring island children are being treated equitably and fairly. There is a wealth of data not being recorded for some Island children due to the lack of a SEEMis code. Have the Islands Team any input into education matters and who should I contact to discuss this if they do?

Response

In response to question 1-3, while our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. The reasons why we do not have the information are explained in the Annex to this letter.

In response to question 4, the Islands Team engages across Scottish Government as is required to ensure adherence with the Islands Act. For education related matters, correspondence can be directed to enquiries@educationscotland.gov.scot

​​​​​​​The Scottish Government does not have the information you have asked for because there is no record of contact between the Islands Team and Argyll & Bute Council or Hub North regarding the Islands Act or undertaking Island Impact Assessments in relation to the New Mull Campus/Tobermory Campus.
​​​​​​​There is no record of a brief (‘the needs of Mull’) given to Stantec.

As such, I hereby provide you with formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.
