- Extract from briefing for the Cabinet Secretary for Constitution, External Affairs and Culture meeting with BBC Scotland Director on 27 January 2025, which included details on BBC attendance at the Constitution, Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee on 23 January 2025. TD refers to Tim Davie, BBC Director-General:
“TD highlighted that An T-Eilean (The Island) was in the top 10 most popular UK wide titles on the BBC iPlayer, and suggested it may be a landmark moment in Gaelic drama.”
- Extract from briefing for the Cabinet Secretary for Constitution, External Affairs and Culture visit to Gothenburg Film Festival on 24 January 2025:
“The Island – Scottish Gaelic production First high-budget Gaelic language production coming out of Scotland to receive significant international attention. All Nordic nations other than Sweden have signed a distribution deal on Netflix to show The Island.”
