Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
Information requested
1. How many officers have been provided their RSS up to the 14th May 2025?
2. How many retired officers are still awaiting their RSS as of 14th May 2025?
3. Which date did automation process of RSS begin?
4. How many complex case RSS (SPPA's terminology) has been manually produced as of 14th May 2025?
5. How many officers who were ill health retired have been provided with their RSS as of 14th May 2025?
6. The date and reason behind SPPA changing their previous published timetable from ill health retired officers being the priority for receiving RSS to fully protected officers being the first to receive theirs.
7. Any minutes in relation to meetings whereby point 6 was decided.
Response
1. Approximately 3,400 Police officers have been provided their RSS up to the 14 May 2025.
2. Approximately 1,800 retired officers were still awaiting their RSS as of 14 May 2025.
3. The automation process of RSS was fully operational in early March 2025.
4. Approximately 570 complex case RSS have been manually produced as of 14 May 2025.
5. Three officers who were ill health retired have been provided with their RSS as of 14 May 2025.
6. Those in detriment are still prioritised, however, all cohorts are being dealt with concurrently given the position in relation to the deadlines. Many ill-health cases require third party information which means these cannot be remedied until all relevant information is available to administrators, these cases involve complex calculations.
7. Those in detriment are still prioritised and are being dealt with in parallel to other cohorts, therefore there are no minutes.
