Economic performance by Local Authority area: FOI release
Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
Information requested
1. An account of the information collected, and that has been collected over the past five years, by the Scottish Government, pertaining to measuring economic performance by local authority area or other geographic subdivision set of Scotland.
2. Copies of all reports and datasets from 1 January 2024 to present held by the Scottish Government reporting on or otherwise demonstrating economic performance information by local authority area or other geographic subdivision set of Scotland. This would include but not be limited to information on GDP, GDP per capita, and unemployment rate.
Response
In response to the first part of your request, please find attached at Annex A the information you requested. This comprises a detailed account of the types of economic performance information which the Scottish Government holds at a sub-Scotland level. We have provided links to some of the information where available. Where there are no links this may be because the information is not published. You should note that in describing the types of information we hold there should not be a presumption that these can be released as part of any future FOI request as they may be subject to possible exemptions.
We have been unable to fulfil the second part of your request because, in line with section 12(1) of FOISA, the cost of complying with this request would exceed the upper cost limit of £600.
To reduce the scope of your request in order that the costs might be brought below the £600 threshold you could, for example:
- Outline the specific subject matter in which you are interested e.g. the specific types of economic performance data which are of interest to you.
- Specify the type of sub-Scotland geography for which you would like information e.g. Local Authority.
- Reduce the time period for which you are requesting information.
- Use the contact details present on some of the pages and publications linked in this document to discuss and refine your query with government analysts.
