Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
Information requested
(a) the number of farm holdings, (b) their size and (c) their farm type (general cropping, cereals, dairy, etc) in the following agricultural parishes: 394, 407, 409, 368, 366, 367, 844, 843, 845 and 581.
Response
An exception under regulation 11(2) of the EIRs (personal information) applies to some of the information requested because it is personal data of a third party and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018. This exception is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exception.
Table 1 provides the breakdowns you requested, as you will see there are a large number of categories which are redacted using the letter "c" due to risk of disclosing individual holding information . To aid your work we have provided an additional table as we have aggregated farm categories to a higher level, reducing the amount of disclosure control required.
If you require any further information you can contact the team directly through the agricultural statistics mailbox (agric.stats@gov.scot).
