Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
Information requested
A detailed breakdown of all public funds the Scottish Government have given to Amazon since 2007. I would like this figure presented as an annual figure for each calendar year and a cumulative total. I would like a breakdown of what public funds were specifically allocated by the Scottish Government to Amazon for their Faulds Park distribution centre in Gourock, Inverclyde, since 2007.
Response
Our enterprise agency, Scottish Enterprise (SE), leads on a pan-Scotland approach to attracting inward investment by foreign companies, such as Amazon. The following table provides a full breakdown, by project and year, of the information held by the Scottish Government on SE support to Amazon.
While your request specifies funds since 2007, grants are often made over several years and multiple projects listed include instalments made prior to 2007. Therefore, to provide the full context, we have chosen to also provide details of payments by SE to Amazon in 2005 and 2006.
With regard to Faulds Park distribution centre, there were 3 payment totalling £2,137,000 which are listed in the top 3 rows of the table below.
