Funding for provision of period products: FOI release
Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
Information requested
In relation to the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021, the amount of funding to local authorities for financial years 2018/19, 2029/20, 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23, broken down by local authority and, if information exists, by the type of expense (e.g. cost of product, distribution, marketing).
When responding to your request, I have interpreted your request to mean the financial years 2018/19, 2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23.
Response
In response to your request, I have provided the information on funding, broken down by local authorities, which is held in the accompanying document. Where a break down by type of expense is held, this has been provided, however, this is not available for all years.
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. The reason why we do not have the funding amounts for the financial years 2019/20 onwards broken down by the type of expense is because local authorities have the ability to use their funding flexibly under the free period products provisions.
