Bute House Visits: FOI release

Information requested

1. A record of everyone who visited Bute House between 24th March 2020 to the 15th July 2020. To clarify, I only want a record of people who visited and entered Bute House whose official place of work isn't Bute House.

2. A record of everyone who visited Bute House between 5th January 2021 and 5th April 2021. To clarify, I only want a record of people who visited and entered Bute House whose official place of work isn't Bute House.

For both requests I do not expect names of persons to be given. It is the record of their reason for visiting/purpose of visit that I believe is essential to know.

Response

Bute House is the Official Residence of the First Minister of Scotland and plays a dual role as a place of work and a residence. In response to your request:

1. A record of everyone who visited Bute House between 24th March 2020 to the 15th July 2020. To clarify, I only want a record of people who visited and entered Bute House whose official place of work isn't Bute House.

1. Between 24 March and 15 July 2020 the only people attending Bute House: were Scottish Government and Historic Environment Scotland staff, and Scottish Government contractors. Their reason for attending (in line with all Covid rules and protocols) was to carry out essential work, primarily essential building maintenance and security work.

2. A record of everyone who visited Bute House between 5th January 2021 and 5th April 2021. To clarify, I only want a record of people who visited and entered Bute House whose official place of work isn't Bute House.

2. Between 05 January and 05 April 2021 the only people attending Bute House were: Scottish Government and Historic Environment staff; and Scottish Government and Historic Environment Scotland contractors. Their reason for attending was (in line with all Covid rules and protocols) was to carry out essential work, including emergency ceiling repairs; pre planned essential maintenance; and security activity.

The Scottish Government does not have the information you have asked for because no people attended Bute House who did not have a work reason (official place of work) to attend the building. This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.
