Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

1. How many people are being treated by the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital for Long Covid in the period ending September 2021?

2. Has the Scottish Government any plans to set up Long Covid clinics to help people who have been diagnosed with this condition?

3. How many people are estimated to have lost their jobs as a result of being diagnosed with Long Covid?

Response

1. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested because we do not hold it centrally.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde may have some, or all of the information you are looking for. Contact details for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde can be found on its website at NHSGGC : Contact us.

2. Support for people living with long COVID is underpinned by the full range of NHS services – primary care teams and community-based rehabilitation services with referrals to secondary care where necessary. We are working to ensure people have access to the support they need for assessment, diagnosis, care and rehabilitation in a setting as close to home as possible.

Rather than mandating one single model, we are giving NHS Boards the flexibility to design and deliver the best models of care tailored to the specific needs of their populations. While long COVID assessment clinics are one model that NHS Boards may explore, we recognise that no one single approach is likely to fit all areas and circumstances.

The Scottish Government’s £10 million Long COVID Support Fund will provide NHS Boards with additional resource to respond in a flexible and tailored manner to the needs of people with long COVID. The fund will support local services to develop and deliver the best models of care appropriate for their populations, which could include strengthening and improving existing services, or establishing dedicated services (including ‘long COVID clinics’ if appropriate).

3. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not hold the information you have requested in this part of your request.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.
