Decision to place a number of African countries on red list: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

I would like to know the date and time that Scottish Government were advised of the UK government's decision to place a number of African Countries, but specifically South Africa, on the red travel list.

Response

The addition of countries to the red list in Scotland is a matter for the Scottish Government, but decisions have to date been taken on the basis of four nations agreement with the other administrations of the UK. We can advise that the decision to add South Africa and other countries to the red list was reached at a four nations Ministerial discussion at 17.15 on 25 November 2021.
