Additional staff support payments for enforced home working: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

As you will be aware public bodies are not allowing staff to return to their designated office or place of work. This results in the running costs for individual households being considerably increased whilst public organisations work spaces are generating savings associated with day to day running costs.

Please provide copies of all minutes of meetings and correspondance reveived by and or held by the Government along with any advice given where the possibility of making payments to public organisation staff has been discussed and the outcome recorded of decissions taken in relation to making support payments to public service employeesaway from their places of work.

Response

We do not hold information on behalf of all public sector employers however we do hold information on the decision about whether the Scottish Government as an employer should make payments to its employees regarding heating and lighting costs due to continued working from home. Attached is an extract from the paper for the Executive Team meeting on 25 September 2020 where this was discussed; the decision as set out in the action note; and the publication of the decision on the staff intranet.
