Information requested
The annual figure for the money given by the Scottish Government to local authorities to cover the 1140 hours of funded childcare for 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds and eligible 2-year-olds. You asked for both the total figure and the individual figures given to each local authority.
Response
The table below shows the funding provided to each local authority for the expansion of Early Learning & Childcare (ELC) from 600 to 1140 hours. In addition to this funding, local authorities also receive funding each year through the Local Government General Revenue Grant to fund the pre-expansion ELC. For 2021- 22 this provides further funding of £454 million taking the total funding for ELC to £1,021 billion.
