Information requested
What modelling has been done to assess the impact of COVID-19 on drug related abuses in Scotland? What data can you share on the rise of drug cases and deaths on a monthly basis from January 2020 - February 2021?
Response
Attached is a copy of all information requested.
Public Health Scotland introduced enhanced surveillance of problem drug use in response to COVID-19. This surveillance includes monitoring of suspected drug deaths by Police Scotland. It should be noted that these are only suspected and therefore are unlikely to be the same as the final drug death figures presented in the official statistics report from National Records of Scotland.
Attached is the most recent surveillance brief for your information.
