Teacher training of stressful communication dilemmas such as double binds: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

The date when Education Scotland communicated to teacher trainer providers the requirement to teach about the use of stressful communication dilemmas, such as Double Binds, within these teacher training organisations.

Response

Education Scotland is not responsible for initial teacher training and anything taught in the training institutions is the responsibility of the training provider. Education Scotland has not communicated to Initial Teacher Education providers a requirement to "teach about the use of
stressful communication dilemmas, such as Double Binds." As such we do not have a date to provide you with. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to do so as this is not within Education Scotland’s remit.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that Education Scotland does not have the information you have requested.

Please note the new Child Protection guidance has not yet been published, it is currently out for public consultation until 17th January 2021 and the Scottish Government would welcome any comments or feedback prior to full and final publication. You can find details as to how to comment here: https://consult.gov.scot/child-protection/consultation-on-the-revised-national-guidance/
