Social Security Scotland staff working from home equipment costs: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

A breakdown of the cost of supplying Social Security Scotland staff with any appropriate new home working materials (bought as a result of COVID-19 forcing working from home). Broken down by the type of material (desk, chair, monitor, keyboard, mouse, pens, notepads and/or otherwise) and the total cost spent on each type of material.

Response

The vast majority of Social Security Scotland staff are working from home due to COVID-19. To support our colleagues’ health and wellbeing while they are working from home, we asked our people to carry out an assessment of their home working arrangements and request any equipment required to make sure their working environment was safe and met their needs. Equipment was provided through a Scottish Government framework.
Social Security Scotland does not hold information in the format you have requested. However, from March 2020, Social Security Scotland has spent the following:

  • IT equipment (includes headsets, keyboards and phones) £6,145.82
  • Furniture (including desks and chairs) £640.47
  • Security equipment (including shredders and privacy screens) £1,022.66
  • Stationery £755.02

These figures exclude equipment that was dispatched from existing stock.
