Licences to control beavers in Tayside: EIR release

Information requested

Ssummary figures covering May to the end of December 2019 showing (a) the number of licences granted for the lethal control of beavers in Tayside; (b) the number of beavers killed under those licences, and how; and (c) other non-lethal control measures carried out.

Response

The answer to your question is:
(a) 40 licences were granted for the lethal control of beavers in Tayside;
(b) 87 beavers were shot under those licences; and
(c) 20 licences were issued for other non-lethal control measures carried out. Of these, 19 licences were issued for dam removal/manipulation and one was issued for live-trapping for translocation purposes.
