How many people have been prosecuted and how many have been convicted under previous slavery and trafficking legislation in Glasgow between the years of 2016 - 2019 and any in 2020.
-
I would also be grateful for an explanation of the difference between the various offences contained in the left hand column, especially the basis of the distinction between slavery, servitude and forced labour and human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
-
Please show the gender of those prosecuted and the gender of those convicted under previous slavery and trafficking legislation in Glasgow between the years of 2016 - 2019 and any in 2020.
Response
Our records show there were no people prosecuted in Glasgow between 2015-16 to 2017-18 for the aforementioned offences.
Information for 2018-19 will not be available until publication of the Criminal Proceedings in Scotland, 2018-19 Statistical Bulletin. The dates of all Scottish Government Official and National Statistics publications are pre-announced, and the up to date list of future publications can be found at: https://www.gov.scot/Topics/Statistics/ForthcomingPubs
Please note that our database contains information on criminal proceedings that have been concluded in Scottish courts. I would suggest you contact the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) who may be able to provide information from their live case system for the period 2018-19 to present. Requests can be sent to foi@copfs.gov.uk.
An explanation of the criminal offences can be found in Part 1 of 'The Human Trafficking and Exploitation (Scotland) Act 2015: guide' which sets out clearly what the Act does. The guide is available online from https://www.gov.scot/publications/human-trafficking-exploitation-scotland-act-2015-guide/
Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you. If, however, you do not have internet access to obtain this information from the website(s) listed, then please contact me again and I will send you a paper copy.
