Breakdown of the additional nurse specialist capacity in NHS Boards: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

You asked for a breakdown of the additional nurse specialist capacity in NHS Boards which has been funded by the Scottish Government's Specialist Nursing and Care Fund, including the type of nursing provision and the whole time equivalent (WTE).

Response

Some of the information you have requested, namely the data for the financial years 2015/16 and 2016/17, is available from the report on the Specialist Nursing and Care Fund, published by the Scottish Government in September 2017. The report can be found on the Scottish Government website at https://www.gov.scot/publications/report-specialist-nursing-care-fund/.

Data for the 2017/18 financial year is contained in the attached table, though it should be noted that data is not available for all NHS Boards.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have data for the 2018/19 financial year. The reason for this is that the Scottish Government has not as yet sought information from NHS Boards for that financial year. An exercise will, however, take place in the coming months to gather that information.
