Information requested

The number of secondary school teachers in Scotland who retired from work in state schools between the years 2016 and 2018.

I enclose a copy of all of the information you requested.
As part of the School Staff Census undertaken in September of each year the Scottish Government collects data on teaching posts that have ended in the previous academic year. The reason for leaving post is also supplied for each post which has ended and under this field, retired is included as a reason for leaving. Teachers may hold multiple posts at the same time.
Data on posts which have ended prior to the census date are not published and as such are not subject to the same quality assurance procedures as the published National Statistics from the staff census. The information provided below reflects the management information provided to the Scottish Government by local authorities as part of this collection.
