Children and young people at work guidance and correspondence: FOI review

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

'is there perhaps a record of any of you ever at any time so far having discussed the problem of making government offices safe neutral mother woman and child friendly spaces especially at Christmas time? In future?’

Response

I have concluded that a different decision should be substituted.  I have identified six pieces of information which are relevant to your request. Three are email conversations about the safety of children in the workplace.  The other three are pieces of information which you may find of interest and set out the approach the Scottish Government has taken to ensure the safety of children in the workplace.  The documents are:

  1. The Scottish Government intranet page on children and young people at work.
  2. The Scottish Government generic risk assessment guidance from our intranet with information on children and young people selected.
  3. Guidance which any adult bringing a child into our premises reads/agrees to when signing the child in ‘young children in the workplace folder staff guidance’.
  4. An email exchange about children in the workplace – 2006
  5. An email exchange about children in the workplace – 2006
  6. An email exchange about VQ staircases - 2017

These six pieces of information are attached to the email containing this letter.
