You requested the following:
I would like to receive current attainment/achievement reports and summary reports on the following schools in Edinburgh please:
The Royal High School
Boroughmuir High School
James Gillespie's High School
Gracemount High School
Portobello High School
I would also like to know how the grading system works in comparison to Ofsted in England, for example, Inspectors at Ofsted use a 4-point grading scale to make judgements during inspections: grade 1: outstanding. grade 2: good. grade 3: requires improvement.
Some of the information you have requested is available on the Education Scotland website.
You will find the report for Portobello High School, in the link below: https://education.gov.scot/inspection-reports/edinburgh-city/5533538
Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already accessible to you. If, however, you do not have internet access to obtain this information from the website listed, then please contact me again and I will send you paper copies.
Please find below some of the inspection reports you have requested that are no longer available on the Education Scotland website.
Our Inspectors use a six-point grading scale when making judgements:
- excellent means outstanding, sector-leading
- very good means major strengths
- good means important strengths with some areas for improvement
- satisfactory means strengths just outweigh weaknesses
- weak means important weaknesses
- unsatisfactory means major weaknesses.
Further information about the six-point grading scale used during inspections can be found on page 62 of How Good is Our School? Fourth edition.
