Sue Ellis is currently the Chair of the SNSA P1 Practitioners Forum. The main function of the Forum is to share experiences and offer advice to the Scottish Government, independent bodies such as Education Scotland, local authorities, schools and teachers in the use of standardized assessments within the context of play-based learning. Professor Ellis’s role as Chair on the Forum is to ensure that discussions were grounded in the realities of teaching P1 and informed by the experiences and professional knowledge of expert P1 teachers.

The role of chair is a voluntary un-paid position, which includes payments for travel and subsistence in relation to the work of the Forum. To date, these payments to Sue Ellis have totaled £63 in hotel costs and £71 in travel expenses, and were paid for expenses occurred in attending a Forum event on 29 April.  As the post is a voluntary role, there is no contract between the individual and the Scottish Government.
