Your requested the following information regarding the ACEs tracker: 
 
  • A copy of the information and guidance relating to the ACEs tracker and any associated documents. 
  • Copies of any correspondence from 14th October 2018 relating to the ACEs tracker, including any correspondence relating to the removal of the ACEs tracker from the Education Scotland website. 
  • Copies of any correspondence expressing concerns about the quality of the ACEs tracker or concerns about it being used in school settings. 
  • Copies of any formal complaints received by Education Scotland in relation to the ACEs tracker.

We have provided the information you have requested with the exception of any information which is exempt under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA. The reason why this exemption applies is explained below. 
 
The answers to your questions are below and in the attached documents.

A copy of the information and guidance relating to the ACEs tracker and any associated documents.

A copy the ACEs tracker which was published on the Education Scotland site - No additional guidance or documentation was published.
 
Since March 2018, a Scottish Attainment Challenge (SAC) content review group (led by a Senior Education Officer) has formally reviewed and approved all new SAC content. 
 
This group will be undertaking a review of historic SAC content in the near future, to ensure it fits with the Education Scotland approved approach to content publication.
 
Copies of any correspondence from 14th October 2018 relating to the ACEs tracker, including any correspondence relating to the removal of the ACEs tracker from the Education Scotland website.

A copy of all correspondence that references the ACES tracker, and that took place in the time frame you request, is attached. All correspondence was by email.
 
Copies of any correspondence expressing concerns about the quality of the ACEs tracker or concerns about it being used in school settings.

A copy of all correspondence that references the ACEs tracker, and that took place in the time frame you request, is attached.  All correspondence was by email. The correspondence refers to concerns having been expressed about the tracker by colleagues previously.  It would appear that any such concerns were raised verbally and no other correspondence has been found in relation to this.

Copies of any formal complaints received by Education Scotland in relation to the ACEs tracker.

Education Scotland has received no formal complaints in relation to the ACEs tracker.

 Reasons for not providing information
 
Section 38(1)(b) - personal data of a third party.
 
An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA (personal information) applies to some of the information requested because it is personal data of a third party, e.g. names/contact details of individuals, and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Schedule 1 to the Data Protection Act 1998.     
 
This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
