Scottish Government funding for advice services is variously linked to strategies which seek to tackle specific issues (e.g. Violence against Women) or barriers for particular groups (e.g. equalities characteristics) or in furtherance of a legislative duty or a specific policy objective such as the immigration advice available until recently within relocation services linked to the former national purpose indicator of growing Scotland’s population. The Scottish Legal Aid Board publish information and financial data about their grant funding programmes on their website. Some of the information you have requested is available from the website below:

https://www.slab.org.uk/about-us/what-we-do/policyanddevelopmentoverview/

Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you.  If, however, you do not have internet access to obtain this information from the website(s) listed, then please contact me again and I will send you a paper copy.

Further Information

Although out with the scope of this request there is additional information online that may be of interest to you in respect of the breakdown of Justice Budgets. After following the links below and opening the document if you select the Justice tab this will list all Justice Budget lines with a description of how the budget was to be used for each of the years you are interested in.

2016/17 - http://www.parliament.scot/parliamentarybusiness/82102.aspx

2015/16 - http://www.parliament.scot/parliamentarybusiness/82102.aspx

2014/15 - http://www.parliament.scot/help/searchresults.aspx?terms=draft%20budget%202014-15

I would like to highlight that the specific funding detailed above comes from more than one of the budget lines contained in the overall Justice Budget allocation. This explains why the total amounts above do not correspond with the totals in the Justice Budget allocation breakdown.

For example there is a specific budget line for Victim/Witness Support and for 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2017/18 this was £5.4m, £5.6m and £5.6m respectively. This is mainly made up of Grants awarded to VSS, PETAL, TARA and Migrant Help.

The Scottish Government also publishes other data about expenditure that may be of interest to you.
