FOI reference: FOI/18/02571
Date received: 12 September 2018
Date responded: 9 October 2018

Information requested

Details of any vacant commercial property owned by the Scottish Government, including the estimated value, address and any other relevant information or documents.

Response

I enclose a copy of all of the information you requested. The Scottish Government currently have 2 empty commercial properties:

  •  Former Naval Barracks, Shore Road, Port Edgar, South Queensferry, EH30 9YH. £300,000 (2015 valuation).
Part of the site was leased to the Forth Crossing contractors during works on the Queensferry Crossing. The process of disposing of the site is now underway.

  •  Shambellie House, New Abbey, Dumfries, DG2 8HQ. £650,000 (2014 valuation).

Following the closure of the National Costume Museum, this property was transferred to the Scottish Government and is the subject of a transfer request from Shambellie House Trust (SHT), a community body who currently use the building for occasional events. The transfer to SHT is now likely in 2019.
