Information requested

Please could you provide me with information about your organisation's ICT expenditure as detailed in the attached template.

I have tried to find this information in your organisation's published data, but was unable to find the level detail I require.

Within the response, please include:

- Expenditure from all parts of your organisation (centralised IT and departmental IT);

- As well as your own organisation, expenditure for any subsidiary organisations that fall within the scope of your accounts; and,

- Both revenue (or operating) expenditure and capital expenditure.
If you could input the answers in this template and return to me by email as an attachment, this would be much appreciated. Please return the information in the template as an Excel (.xlsx) file - not in another format (e.g. PDF).

Response

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the costs of locating, retrieving and providing the information requested would exceed the upper cost limit of £600.  This is because we do not centrally record information on actual and budgeted expenditure for all of the categories you have requested. Gathering this information would require analysis of multiple transactions across different departments and projects. Staff time spent on locating, retrieving and collating all of this information would take over 40 hours of work and a cost of £15 per hour would breach the upper limit of £600.

Under section 12 of FOISA public authorities are not required to comply with a request for information if the authority estimates that the cost of complying would exceed the upper cost limit, which is currently set at £600 by Regulations made under section 12.

You may, however, wish to consider reducing the scope of your request in order that the costs can be brought below £600. You may also find it helpful to look at the Scottish Information Commissioner’s ‘Tips for requesting information under FOI and the EIRs’ on his website at: http://www.itspublicknowledge.info/YourRights/Tipsforrequesters.aspx.

SAAS have been able to provide some information on expenditure for hardware, software. This is included in the spreadsheet provided has this information is already published in the SAAS Annual Reports and Accounts
