1. Details of all funding provided to the Scots Language Centre by the Scottish Government since 2009, and wherever possible details of how this money was spent and/or accounted for.
2. Details of the Scottish Government's decision-making processes around provision of funding to the Scots Language Centre since 2009, including any assessments regarding the suitability and/or eligibility of the Scots Language Centre for continued funding, any assessments regarding the Scots Language Centre's performance and/or success in its stated aims, and any documentation and information provided by the Scots Language Centre to the Scottish Government in support of its continued funding.
The answer to your questions are as follows:
The Scottish Government took over funding of the Scots Language Centre in 2009 however funding did not begin until the financial year 2010/2011. For ease, I have outlined the funding allocations and the expected outcomes and targets in Annex A. This will set out how the funding was to be spent.
We continue to work closely with the Scots Language Centre and monitor their activities through face to face meetings, however there is also an expectation that reports on the funding are submitted to the Scottish Government. The available reports along with the available quarterly payment details are also attached.
The Scots Language Centre is a core funded body however, as outlined, above regular contact through face to face meetings and the annual reporting exercises ensure their suitability for continued Government support.
