Information requested

1. Copies of all policies and procedures regarding transgender and non-binary school children.

2. Copies of all Equality Impact Assessments in relation to any new or revised policies or procedures regarding transgender and non-binary school children.

Response

1. Education Scotland does not have specific policies and procedures regarding transgender and non-binary children as local authorities are responsible for schools in their area and for any governing policies.

Education Scotland shares good practice and resources which may be helpful to schools. There are a number of resources on supporting transgender and LGBTI+ learners available on our National Improvement Hub (NIH). An overview of the resources available can be found at the following link:

2. Given the answer to 1 above, there has been no requirement for Equality Impact Assessments in relation any new or revised policies or procedures regarding transgender and non-binary school children.
