Response
Please find attached information that the Scottish Government holds on total gross revenue expenditure reported by local authorities on primary and secondary education, sourced from the Scottish Government's Local Financial Return. The series runs from 2009-10 to 2015-16 as this is the most recent year out-turn data is available for.
Scottish Government's policy towards local authorities' spending is to allow local authorities the financial freedom to operate independently. It is the responsibility of individual local authorities to manage their own budgets and to allocate the total financial resources available to them on the basis of local needs and priorities.
