Number of staff employed by Education Scotland: FOI release

Information requested

I am conducting a survey of wider employment trends in the Edinburgh area, and I am interested in confirming the number we have on record of 389 employees at the Education Scotland in Edinburgh, whether there are any plans for expansion or contraction in those numbers in the next year or months and any moves in office location? Would you be able to disclose the information requested? Any further information, however general, would be greatly appreciated.

Education Scotland occupies space in a number of office locations across Scotland; Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow, Inverness and Livingston. Education Scotland do not currently occupy an office in the Edinburgh area.

The number of staff employed by Education Scotland is 282. The number of staff employed can vary over a year as a mixture of permanent, temporary and seconded staff are employed to deliver programmes of work.

Education Scotland do not have current plans to move office locations. An estates strategy will be developed to plan what actions will be taken following any lease expiry dates beyond 2018.
