Race data engagement and improvements

The Scottish Government has recently engaged, and is currently engaging, with a number of stakeholder groups on race data improvement including through the Cross Justice Working Group on Race Data. Engagement work undertaken by Justice Analytical Services, on behalf of the Cross Justice Working Group, was presented to the Project Board at the October 2021 meeting.

In September 2021, the Scottish Government published the Immediate Priorities Plan, which sets out progress made towards implementing the recommendations of the Evidence and the Expert Reference Group on COVID-19 and Ethnicity including improving race equality data and evidence, monitoring and evaluation.

The Scottish Government is also currently engaged in data linkage work to enable further insight into different protected characteristics based on existing administrative and Census data. This data linkage work is an action within the EDIP work plan.
