Public Sector Equality Duty: report 2025 to 2029 - easy read

Easy read version of the Scottish Government's Regulation 12 Report. It covers ideas on how to make the Public Sector Equality Duty work better in Scotland between December 2025 and December 2029.

Part 2: Summary of our ideas

1. Pay Gap Action Plans:

We will see if we can change the law so that public authorities would need to make Pay Gap Action Plans.

A pay gap is when one worker gets paid less than another. Like, when women get paid less than men. Action plans would set out steps to take to tackle these issues.

2. Involve the public and other organisations:

We will talk more about what we do and involve the public and other organisations in how we use the PSED.

3. Make better relationships:

We will do more to help relationships between people who have protected characteristics and those who don’t. We will find out how this should happen and what other countries are doing.

4. Leadership and workload:

The Scottish Government will show leadership on how to make the PSED work better in Scotland. We will make sure there are enough resources for any extra work.

5. Leadership and responsibility:

The Scottish Government will look at their own systems and help staff responsible for the PSED. We will make this better where we can.

Ongoing Work

The report gives details of work already being done to improve the PSED in Scotland. This work will continue.
