Changes to the Childhood Vaccination Schedule – Equality Impact Assessment
The Scottish Government, in line with the rest of the UK, are
implementing a number of changes to the routine childhood
immunisation programme.
Recommendations and Conclusion
The policy has been developed in full alignment with JCVI considerations and recommendations regarding the changes to the Childhood Immunisation Schedule, including the introduction of the new MMRV vaccine.
The programmes offer vaccination to children from birth to age 6, and may be of particular benefit to people who experience one or more protected characteristic. This will be positive for those who take up the offer but may be negative for those who decline and are 7 years or over.. All possible efforts are being made to understand, address and mitigate the reasons for people not taking up a vaccine offer.
The prioritisation of age groups is based on JCVI guidance.
Public Health Scotland (PHS) will conduct regular performance monitoring of programme delivery, with evaluations and data publications released quarterly.
