Building standards: professional competency framework for verifiers
The Building Standards Professional Competency Framework for Verifiers (the PCF) provides an overarching framework that sets out standardised job role profiles for the building standards profession and the associated level of competence required for each role.
2. Purpose
The Framework sets out the requirements for the assessment and maintenance of skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours for an individual undertaking a role in the building standards profession.
The specific objectives of the PCF are to:
- provide a single and consistent national competency framework for all building standards professionals
- enable and support validation and revalidation of the competence of individuals
- further support a professional culture of personal improvement and development within the building standards profession
- further support effective career development pathways for all building standards professionals
- enable differentiation of the level of competence of building standards professionals
- raise awareness of the role of building standards professionals
- recognise and develop training, competence maintenance and career progression including CPD
- provide public reassurance as to the competence of individuals.
