Breakdown of FOI reviews submitted to Scottish Government: FOI release

Information requested

1) For each month of the last 5 years, what percentage of FOI requests received by the Scottish Government are reviewed.

2) For each month of the last 5 years, what percentage of FOI reviews to the Scottish Government are partially or fully upheld.

Response

For the purposes of responding to this request I have interpreted that the term 'FoI requests’ and ‘FOI reviews’ refers both to requests and reviews received and are partially or fully upheld under FOI(S)A and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRS).

I have also interpreted the dates you wish to receive the information as being from 19th April 2019 up to the date of this request, 19th April 2023.

Attached is some of the information you have requested in the excel spreadsheet attached and the data is from 21st June 2022 to the date of this request, 19th April 2023. I have outlined below the reasons for only providing some of the information you have requested.

Under a previous request 202200306902 we have provided you with information that covers the period between 19th April 2019 to 20th June 2022, therefore under section 25(1) of FOI(S)A (Information otherwise accessible) we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you. The information and response have also be published on the gov.scot website and I have provided the link to this, for completeness: FOI reviews: FOI release - gov.scot (www.gov.scot). This
exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.

Enclosed is a copy of the remaining information that you are seeking in the attached excel spreadsheet and covers the period from 21st June 2022 to 19th April 2023 as outlined above. To provide some additional explanatory text, the column entitled 'No. of cases received' reflects the total number of cases, requests and reviews, that were received in that specific month. A review can be received in the month(s) following the request to which it corresponds. The information provided is the
total number of requests and reviews received each month, so does not directly correlate the requests and reviews in each month.
