Adult Support and Protection: Large Scale Investigation guidance

A Large Scale Investigation, or LSI, is a specific type of Adult Support and Protection investigation. It is a time-bound multi-agency investigation led by the council, or social work service where relevant to the delegation arrangement.

  • No - Decide on alternatives to address issues raised, and how to keep this decision under review
  • Yes - Notifying all relevant public bodies and stakeholders (8.1)

4. LSI planning meeting (8.7)

5. Appointing LIO, convening LSI team and convening LIO oversight group (8.8-8.9)

6. Conducting the LSI (9)

7. LSI Outcome Report and LSI Outcome Meeting (10.1-10.2)

8. Should an LSI end? (10.1-3)

  • No - Return to conducting the LSI, with revised time-bound plan if needed
  • Yes - Notifying all relevant public bodies and stakeholders (10.3)
  • Yes - Reviewing progress (10.4), determining future learning (10.5) and returning to preventing the need for an LSI (4)
