04. Organisations That Work With Children And Young People

Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland – Bruce Adamson is Scotland’s Commissioner and works with his team to protect the rights of children and young people.

Children in Scotland – works to make positive change for children in Scotland.

Children’s Parliament – works with children (mainly under 12’s) and adults to help them understand the importance of children’s rights.

Fife Gingerbread – organisation that helps single parents and families that are having difficulties.

LGBT Youth Scotland – largest organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) children and young people in Scotland.

Prince’s Trust – helps young people in Scotland (aged 13 - 30 years) to get into education, jobs and start businesses.

Scottish Women’s Aid – works to make sure that women, young people and children enjoy all human rights and don’t suffer any harm from those in a relationship.

Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) – the voice of all of Scotland’s young people aged 12 - 25 years old. Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) are elected every two years.

Together (Scottish Alliance for Children’s Rights) – works with other Scottish organisations to make more people in Scotland understand the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Young Scot – provides young people aged 11-26 years old with information, ideas and access to opportunities to help them make the most of their lives, particularly at times of transition.
