Successful launch of the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) account

Eligible students taking up places on HNC, HND Degree and Postgraduate courses in Colleges and Universities in Scotland are reminded to apply now to SAAS for their tuition fees, bursary and student loans.

SAAS have successfully launched a new digital student account to make the process easier for the 180,000 students who apply each year for funding support.

The new SAAS Account allows students to submit and manage their funding applications from their mobile and desktop devices. This includes uploading supporting information, checking progress, receiving confirmation of their award and sending and receiving enquiries.

Since its launch on the 10th April 2017 over 165,799 students have already used the new SAAS digital account, with 94% of these having already received confirmation of their funding package.

Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS), Chief Executive, Paul Lowe said “SAAS want to make it as simple and quick as possible for students to access funding support. Using exciting digital solutions, such as the SAAS Account is an important step to achieving that ambition.”

Giving students a number of methods to apply for their vital financial support is particularly important given the diverse requirements of Scotland’s student population. Edinburgh College, Student Services, Mark Walker said “Colleges and Universities were closely involved in this project, I was able to feed in student’s needs directly to the design and testing of the SAAS Account. The new SAAS Account is a huge improvement. It’s been optimised for use on mobiles, tablets and laptops. Clearly worded questions and the addition of the useful help text seems to have made it quicker and easier for students to complete.“
