Same SAAS, New Account - now open for 2017 funding applications

Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) is now open for business and asking full-time students to submit their 2017-2018 applications for funding at www.saas.gov.uk

SAAS are also delighted to launch a new SAAS Account, which allows students to manage their applications from their mobile and desktop devices and within one portal: including submitting an application, uploading documents and supporting evidence, checking on progress and sending and receiving enquiries.

Students should apply now to ensure they have their funding in place for the start of their course and must submit an accurate application along with all the required supporting evidence. And we’re here to help, we have extended our opening hours to support students through the registration and application process.

If you have any queries please ring the SAAS helpline on 0300 555 0505.

8:30am - 6:00pm from Monday 10 April 2017. We will also open 12:00pm - 6:00pm on Saturday 22 April,  Sunday 23 April, Saturday 29 April and Sunday 30 April 2017.

SAAS Chief Executive, Paul Lowe said ‘As the national student funding body for over 250,000 Scottish students we are thrilled to have modernised our student funding systems and are able to launch our new SAAS Account. I encourage new and returning students to apply now for their 2017-2018 funding At SAAS we want to make sure that all students receive the funding they are entitled to. It’s important that in addition to bursaries and loans,  eligible students also apply for their tuition fees.  Students should visit www.saas.gov.uk. We also provide a dedicated helpline with extended opening hours, where our staff will be happy to help.’

Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science, Shirley-Anne Somerville, said “Now is the time for students to apply to SAAS for the next academic year’s funding. I’d encourage all students to apply as early as possible to ensure their funding is in place for the start of their course. The Scottish Government is committed to ensuring fair access and offering the right level of funding for students through their Higher Education journey, so we don’t want eligible students to miss out.”
