Quarantine rules imposed on travellers from Luxembourg

Increase in coronavirus cases sees quarantine requirements.

Passengers from Luxembourg will be required to quarantine for 14 days on arrival in Scotland due to an increased number of cases of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The decision to remove the country from the list of destinations exempt from quarantine requirements has been made to reduce the risk of the transmission of the virus by those travelling from Luxembourg and arriving in Scotland.

The public health measures will come into force at midnight tonight and will mean those arriving in Scotland from Luxembourg will be required to quarantine for 14 days.

Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf said:

“This decision is based on the latest available data from the Joint Biosecruity Centre and it gives another clear indication that the virus is active and still spreading. We have always maintained that we are closely monitoring the pandemic situation in all countries and we will impose quarantine requirements as necessary in a bid to protect the public.

“This virus is showing a resurgence in areas and it should not be forgotten how deadly it remains. Our priority to is supress the virus, prevent it from being transmitted and protecting public health.”
